Dallapiccola: Il prigioniero
Gramophone Editor's Choice / BBC Music Magazine Choice. Luigi Dallapiccola’s Il prigioniero (The Prisoner) is often called his masterpiece. The Italian composer’s one-act opera, written in the late 1940s, is the story of a prisoner of the Spanish Inquisition. Gianandrea Noseda, a keen Dallapiccola advocate, conducts the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and Concert Choir, with Michael Nagy in the lead role.
