Haydn 2032, Vol. 8: La Roxolana
Haydn, always influenced by music from beyond his native land, named his Symphony No. 63 "La Roxolana" after a famous 16th-century slave turned sultana, and Giovanni Antonini and Il Giardino Armonico pair this work with Bartók's Romanian Folk Dances. This is Volume 8 of the ambitious Haydn2032 project, which is recording the complete 107 symphonies of Joseph Haydn before his tricentenary in 2032.
