Rossini: Sigismondo (Live)
Sigismondo is one of Rossini's lesser-known serious operas, premiered in 1814 to little acclaim, but it is worth rediscovering. He re-used parts of the music in various later operas including Il barbiere di Siviglia. BR-Klassik's recording features mezzo-soprano Marianna Pizzolato as Sigismondo, King of Poland, soprano Hera Hyesang Park as his wife Aldimira, and tenor Kenneth Tarver as the scheming Ladislao. Keri-Lynn Wilson conducts the Münchner Rundfunkorchester and the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks.
