Schubert: Symphonies Nos. 3 & 7
The Münchner Symphoniker and their chief conductor Kevin John Edusei play two of Schubert’s lesser-known symphonies: the ebullient Symphony No. 3 in D major, and Symphony No. 7 in E major. Schubert left the latter work incomplete – he wrote an outline of the whole piece, but only filled in the orchestration for the first part. Yet it remains a fascinating precursor to the “Unfinished” and “Great” symphonies that followed.
