Arts@Future at Reina Sofía School: Nicolás Margarit and Bach’s Goldberg Variations
About this event
Published in 1741 and carrying the name of its first performer, Johann Gottlieb Goldberg, Bach's monumental Goldberg Variations is work that never ceases to amaze, due to its complexity and both the technical and intellectual demands it makes on the performer. Whenever a pianist faces such a tour de force, it generates great expectation. This time, the young pianist Nicolás Margarit, student of the Reina Sofía School, will take us deep into Bach’s world – from the opening Aria, which concentrates all the essence of the piece, to the 30 variations and the final Aria da capo, which closes as a brief recapitulation of this circular journey.
The Reina Sofía School of Music is considered one of the leading European Schools for especially gifted students who wish to become professional musicians. Every year, 150 young musicians from more than 30 countries meet renowned teachers in an inspiring building at the centre of Madrid. The tuition-free system, thanks to the scholarships granted by our sponsors, allows those with enough merit to have access to the highest level of education. The School organizes over 300 concerts a year with more than 60,000 attendees, in order to give students the opportunity to mature on stage.
This concert is presented as part of the Arts@Future series in the IDAGIO Global Concert Hall, curated by the Hampsong Foundation.
Your ticket purchase will directly support the participating artists through IDAGIO’s Fair Artist Payout Model: IDAGIO pays 70% of the net revenue directly to the performers.
