Brahms & Prokofiev - Stathis Karapanos and Fil Liotis
About this event
The two young Greek musicians Stathis Karapanos and Fil Liotis first met in Karlsruhe, at the city's music university. This resulted not only in a regular musical collaboration as a duo for flute and piano, but also a close friendship.
"One of my biggest dreams has always been to magically discover a long lost flute sonata by Brahms and to play a concert on the moon," says Karapanos about their first concert in the IDAGIO Global Concert Hall. "It's unlikely either will ever happen. Instead, Fil and I decided to do something very unorthodox: to "steal" a violin sonata and pair it with the Prokofiev Flute Sonata, op 94 (which gets stolen all the time by violinists). There are endless stories and anecdotes about these works and they have such a rich musical background, which one can analyse for a whole lifetime. What I have learned, though, is that to preserve magic one mustn't explain it."
Your ticket purchase will directly support the participating artists through IDAGIO’s Fair Artist Payout Model: IDAGIO pays 80% of the net revenue directly to the performers.
