INTIMATE LETTERS: The Many Dimensions of Love, through Webern, Bach, and Janáček
About this event
INTIMATE LETTERS is a program that delves into music aimed at the heart – specifically, the magic and curse of love. Webern’s Langsamer Satz captures the simplicity and sweetness of love found while hiking in nature; a movement from Bach’s Art of Fugue musically captures the intimacy of two voices that move together in perfect counterpoint; and Janáček’s Quartet No.2 reminds us that love has the power to overtake us. The Parker Quartet also takes the opportunity to discuss its most recent release – a debut recording for ECM Records – and the importance of paying tribute to those who have guided us.
This event is presented as part of the Performance Reimagined series from GBH Music and IDAGIO.
Generously sponsored by Ann and Graham Gund.
This stream is available to watch until June 26, 2022.
