Salzburg Festival 2020: Sir András Schiff plays Schubert & Janáček
About this event
Sir András Schiff is not only a renowned world-class pianist, but also an artist with strong political views. His expertise in Schubert's piano music is particularly noteworthy. Few are able to interpret the musical language of the Viennese composer and the lyrical intimacy of his works as powerfully as András Schiff.
"It is the quietest and softest tones with which Schubert touches our hearts," says András Schiff. In addition to Schubert, Schiff will also present the Piano Sonata 1.X.1905 by Leoš Janáček in this concert from the Salzburg House for Mozart. This composition has a political motivation based on the violent death of a demonstrating Czech worker at the hands of the military.
