The Wanderlust Series: Mark Padmore and Julius Drake in Recital
About this event
Filmed live in London during lockdown, this intimate recital brings two of the world's leading song interpreters, tenor Mark Padmore and pianist Julius Drake, into your home. It also opens The Wanderlust Series in IDAGIO’s Global Concert Hall, promising unique insights into the Lieder of Beethoven and Schumann. Celebrating the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, the programme begins with a selection of the composer’s Lieder beside his ground-breaking cycle An die ferne Geliebte, and closes with Schumann’s epic Kerner-Lieder, op. 35.
The event includes a post-concert discussion with the artists and series curator.
The Wanderlust Series is curated by pianist Jocelyn Freeman, and presents songs celebrating both the rewards of roaming in nature and the earnest interior world of conflicted personal journeys. Paying homage to Wilhelm Müller's love of travel, this series also includes the complete Schubert song cycles. All performances are subtitled in English using translations by Richard Stokes, author of The Book of Lieder (Faber, 2000).
Your ticket purchase will directly support the participating artists through IDAGIO’s Fair Artist Payout Model: IDAGIO pays 80% of the net revenue directly to the performers.
This stream is available to watch until Friday, December 31, 2021.
